PADI INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT
COURSE
The PADI Open
Water Scuba Instructor program is the final step in your goal of becoming a PADI
Instructor. During the IDC, you will learn to use and adapt the PADI System of
diver education to your individual student needs. In depth training, supported
by a wide variety of PADI educational materials, earns PADI Instructors respect
from both students and peers. As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor you will be
able to teach a wide range of PADI programs from Discover Scuba Diving through
to Divemaster.
If you want to
live a life that is different from anything else, you're in the right place.
What do I
need to start?
-
PADI Assistant
Instructor certification or be an instructor in good standing with another
training organization for at least six months (check with a PADI Course
Director or PADI Office for qualifying credentials.)

Hold a dive
certification for at least six months
-
Have 60 logged
dives that include night, deep and navigation dives
-
Proof of CPR
training within the last 24 months
-
Medical
clearance signed by a physician
What will I
do?

Knowledge
development through self-study, quizzes, lectures and presentations
-
Confined water
skill review and assessment, workshops and presentations
-
Open water
workshops, rescue assessment and candidate presentations
-
Have at least
100 logged dives prior to entering a PADI Instructor Exam
The IDC is
divided into two parts, the Assistant instructor course and the OWSI program.
Assistant instructors can continue with the OWSI program at a later date.
Requirements:
1. Be at least
18 years old
2. Certified as a PADI Divemaster or PADI Assistant Instructor or hold a
leadership level with another recreational diver training organization.
3. Healthy and fit
4. Diving medical certificate, which should not be older than 12 months
prior to
the start of the Instructor Exam.
5. Minimum 6
months certified as a diver and at least 60 dives
for the IDC and 100 dives
for the
IE
(Bring your logbooks)
6. PADI - Emergency First Response or a certificate stating your abilities of
first aid and C.P.R. training in the last 2 years
For
participating you need the latest editions of the following materials
The
books 1 to 7 you will need before the beginning of the IDC to prepare yourself
for the course.
